The Witch of Portobello by Paulo CoelhoNot my cup of tea. If I read the English version, would I feel different? I don't think so. Aside from the translation, I found the story-telling was boring I wanted to stop in the middle of the book. I am not talking about the substance or angle or anything related to anything, it was just simply not enjoyable. But then again, that is always what happens when someone tries to explain love. Love is cursed not to be analyzed or elaborated, let alone understood. Do that and you're on your fast track into a boring uninteresting writing.
But at least I like one quote out of the 307 pages:
"When hatred makes a person grow, it is transformed into one of the many ways of loving."Couldn't agree more. I even personally think, making a person grow or not, hatred is just another facet of love. *clearing throat*
I see this book could make a beautiful movie, with great pictures shot all over the world like "The Fall", but as a novel, once again, not my cup of tea.
